Preliminary Round
Preliminary Round will take place on Dec 8th, 2012 at Ripley-Grier Studios. You may enter the competition by submitting a completed entry form and payment online or by mail at 8784 15th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11228, USA. Please ensure that your entry form is legible, complete, accompanied with an appropriate participation fee payment and is received by the deadline below. Otherwise, it will not be considered.

1. How to Enter
The registration for 2012-2013 Forte International Music Competition is now closed. You may submit the Entry Form online or by mail next year, once available.

NOTE: International competitors, competitors who don’t reside in the tri-state area, and other competitors who cannot participate in the Preliminary Round and/or Semi-Final Round in person may either (a) upload a recorded video of the performance on http://www.youtube.com and specify a link in the Online Entry Form or (b) send a DVD with video of the performance by mail.
REMEMBER: Studio recording or pitch correction is NOT allowed. If you decide to send us a DVD it must be clearly labeled with the name of the performer and be addressed to 8784 15th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11228, USA. DVDs submitted for review will NOT be returned. The YouTube/DVD video recording, Entry Form, and payment must be all received by one of the deadlines listed in section 2 below.
2. Entry Fee and Deadline
Entry form and non-refundable fee for participation must be received by November 5th. If you need more time to apply you can do so by November 20th, but the Entry Form will then need to be accompanied with a late fee as noted below.
We are also happy to offer an Early Bird Disount and provide a Special Discount for International Participants. International participants are considered to be those contestants who live outside of United States and who would need to travel internationally in order to participate in the competition.
Payment can be made online below or by mail. All checks and money orders should be made payable to Forte International and be addressed to 8784 15th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11228, USA. If you have more than 2 competitors, please submit ONE payment for the total fees and list the participants in the Memo section.

3. Repertoire
The repertoire should include 1 (one) original composition from one of the categories below. It must be performed from memory and cannot exceed 5 minutes. The performance may be stopped if the competitor exceeds the allotted time.
Repertoire categories:
Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary, Impressionism
Opera/Operetta, Broadway, Musical Theater, Jazz
4. Results
Results and scoring sheets with feedback from judges will be available at the end of the Preliminary Round on December 8th. If you pass into the Semi-Final Round you will also receive your time slot at this time. An email confirmation will be sent to everyone by the end of the day.
5. Awards
All participants will receive certificates at the conclusion of the Preliminary Round.
