In the ’80s, Mangold backed Michael Bolton on the singer’s first two records and the two also penned Cher’s 1987 hit “I Found Someone.” Mangold worked the blues with Al Pitrelli in Flesh & Blood, and is the driving force behind Drive, She Said. In the ’90s, Mangold combined forces with another Long Island luminary, Randy Jackson of Zebra. The pair formed the super non-group Sign. Mangold also released Mirror Image on his label Indigo Records. This solo work deals in new age philosophies and tones and he even wrote a book, The New Faith. The new century found Mangold working on soundtracks and a second solo slab. Yet another project, called Mystic Healer, features songs written with Canadian legend Aldo Nova.
