How to enter: Submit the Entry Form and Registration Fee by the deadline.

1. Preliminary Round

Repertoire: 1 original composition (no transpositions or arrangements of the composer’s original work allowed) from one of the repertoire categories below. It must be performed from memory and cannot exceed 5 minutes. The performance will be stopped and/or score reduced by a point per judge if the competitor exceeds the allotted time.

Repertoire categories: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary, Impressionism, Opera/Operetta, Broadway, Musical Theater, Jazz

Changes to the program: Submit request and payment of $30 before November 20th. No changes allowed after November 20th.

Results: Available at the end of the Preliminary Round. If you pass into the Semi-Final Round you will also receive your time slot at this time. An email confirmation will be sent to everyone by the end of the day as well.

Awards & Evaluation Forms: All competitors will receive certificates and evaluation forms from judges at the conclusion of the Preliminary Round. The competitors must be present to receive certificates and evaluation forms as they will not be sent by mail.

Fee: None. There is no additional fee to participate in this round of the competition.

2. Semi-Final Round

Repertoire: 1 original composition (no transpositions or arrangements of the composer’s original work allowed) from one of the repertoire categories below and this composition must be different from the composition presented during the Preliminary Round. It must be performed from memory and cannot exceed 5 minutes. The performance will be stopped and/or score reduced by a point per judge if the competitor exceeds the allotted time.

Repertoire categories: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary, Impressionism, Opera/Operetta, Broadway, Musical Theater, Jazz

Changes to the program: Submit request and payment of $30 before November 20th. No changes allowed after November 20th.

Results: Available within one week via email.

Awards & Evaluation Forms: All competitors will receive certificates and evaluation forms from judges as soon as available. The competitors must be present to receive certificates and evaluation forms as they will not be sent by mail.

Fee: None. There is no additional fee to participate in this round of the competition.

3. Final Round

Repertoire: One of the two compositions presented during the Preliminary or Semi-Final Round that has received the highest score from the judges. You will also receive an email confirming the piece to be performed.

Results & Awards: All awards and evaluation forms from judges will be presented to competitors at the Awards Ceremony at the conclusion of the Final Round. Please note that competitors must be present to receive awards and evaluation forms as they will not be sent by mail. For a complete list of awards please see Section 5 of the Rules & Regulations.

Fee: Yes. There is an additional fee that must be submitted by the deadline in order to participate in the Final Round. See Final Round page for more information.
